Founded in 1979 in Easthampton, Massachusetts, Adastra Press produces hand-sewn, letterpress-printed chapbooks.

Barrow Street Press

Barrow Street Inc. is a nonprofit literary arts organization that was started in Greenwich Village, NYC in 1994 to provide community outreach and host literary events featuring emerging and established poets.

Broadsided Press

Founded in 2005, Broadsided publishes monthly, original collaborations between writers and artists. The broadsides are released as letter-sized pdfs on our website, free for anyone to download, print, and post in their communities. Our mission is to help people put literature and art on the streets of their communities

Červená Barva Press

ČERVENÁ BARVA PRESS was founded in April of 2005. The press solicits poetry, fiction, and plays from various writers around the world, and holds open contests regularly for its chapbooks, postcards, broadsides and full-length books.

Derby Wharf Light Box

Derby Wharf Light Box, based in Salem, is a series of poetry chapbooks with a local focus on the Massachusetts North Shore. The booklet design, a compact 4-1/2 by 6-1/4 inches, is modeled after the legendary City Lights Pocket Poets Series published by renowned Beat poet and bookseller Lawrence Ferlinghetti.

EmersonWRITES

EmersonWRITES is an urban, creative writing program offering FREE college-style workshops to students grades 8-12 enrolled in a Greater Boston public or charter school. Our teachers are graduate students in Emerson’s MFA/MA program in Writing and Publishing, and have been trained to teach college-level writing in the award-winning Writing Studies/First-Year Writing Program. EmersonWRITES is guided by the principle that writing is essential to intellectual engagement, self-representation, and access to opportunity. We provide our students free lunch each class as well as creative & college-positive workshops during those lunch periods to further facilitate college access pipelines for our youth. Our teachers support students in creating a body of work to be included in “SPINE,” published annually. Each year, at least one student-senior is awarded a scholarship from their EmersonWRITES engagement upon their acceptance into Emerson College.

Game Over Books

Founded in 2017, Game Over Books is a small Boston-based press run by nerdy artists. Our mission? Print books from diverse voices that push creative writing forward into the Next Level. From acceptance to publication, we give continual guidance to writers as they continue to gain experience points, grow their craft, and navigate the world of publishing.

Grolier Poetry Book Shop

The Grolier Poetry Book Shop is an independent bookstore on Plympton Street near Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Although founded as a “first edition” bookstore, its focus today is solely poetry. A small, one-room store with towering bookcases, it is the oldest continuous bookshop devoted solely to the sale of poetry and poetry criticism.

Molecule: A Tiny Lit Mag

Molecule is an online journal publishing poetry, prose, plays, interviews, reviews, and visual art twice annually. All work should be 50 words or less (including titles, interview questions, etc).

New England Poetry Club

NEPC is a poets’ association founded in 1915 by Amy Lowell, Robert Frost, and Conrad Aiken to foster the art of poetic expression. We run the oldest poetry reading series in the country. We offer an ongoing writing workshop open to all members. We sponsor awards and contests to encourage and recognize poetic achievement. And we look for new creative ways to foster understanding and love of poetry.

Perugia Press

Perugia Press, founded in 1997, is a nonprofit press that publishes one beautifully designed book each year: the winner of the Perugia Press Prize, our annual national contest for first or second books of poetry by women. Our mission is to support and promote women’s voices in print, and we aim to expand the audience for poetry by making books that welcome longtime readers of poetry and those new to poetry.

Slate Roof Press / Swamp Press

Slate Roof Press is a member-run press established in 2004 and committed to publishing Massachusetts and regional poets as well as poetry nationwide in alternate years of our chapbook contest. 

Swamp Press conceptualizes, designs and prints fine letterpress books, both as a publisher of poetry and as a printer for other publishers.

Solstice MFA in Creative Writing

Soundings East

Soundings East is the annual literary journal of Salem State University, published with support from the Center for Creative and Performing Arts. Founded in 1973, the journal is edited by graduate and upper-level undergraduate creative students under the aegis of an advisory editor from the writing faculty. Soundings East is dedicated to publishing high-quality poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction. The magazine is distributed nationally, with recent press runs of 750 copies.

This Works Press

This Works Press, founded by Neal and Kerry Zagarella,  is committed to the idea that a small press can contain big ideas, inspired thought and original writing. Our genesis can be traced to the spoken word explosion of the late eighties and early nineties in Cambridge, Boston, and the North Shore.

Three Mile Harbor Press

Three Mile Harbor Press is a small poetry publisher which has been around since the 1990’s. Open to diverse subject matter and styles, we are particularly interested in feminist, LGBTQ and environmentally aware voices. Zephyr Press

ZEPHYR PRESS, founded in 1980, is an award-winning non-profit independent press whose titles and literary events foster a deeper understanding of cultures and languages from around the world. We focus on contemporary poetry and prose in translation from Russia, Eastern Europe and Asia, but also publish literature from other languages and the U.S., and reprint books of literary and historical value that have long been out of print.
